In 2024, Doc Willie revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

The health advocate shared in a video that doctors discovered a 16 × 13 × 12-centimeter sarcoma in his abdomen. He explained that the tumor went undetected because it was located behind his heart and in front of his T10 vertebra.

The mass was also reportedly compressing his esophagus, inferior vena cava, and right atrium.

To receive the best possible treatment, Doc Willie traveled abroad to undergo chemotherapy.

Despite his battle with cancer, Doc Willie also expressed interest in running for senator in the 2025 senatorial elections.
