Basta Every Day Happy host Donita Rose acknowledges that happiness is a choice. Even in the midst of the most difficult and complicated circumstances, a positive outlook can determine everything.

According to her, the choice to dwell on the downside of things will naturally put you in a bad mood. “I think it’s really about perception. Marami tayong pinagdadaanang pagsubok sa buhay and [it] depends sa perception mo. Kung ang perception mo ay laging negative, hindi ka [talaga] magiging happy,” she said.

Conversely, rising above a situation can turn things around for the better, “Kung lahat ng dumadating na trials, kung iisipin mo naku, pagsubok lang 'yan, every day magiging happy ka,” she added.

Donita, who takes pride in espousing such mind set, has in fact proven her positivity through an exam. “Meron akong ginawang mga test dati and isa sa pinakamataas sa ‘kin is positivity,” she noted.

She attributes it to the people surrounding her and the people she surrounds herself with. “I think that it has a lot to do with my upbringing and the kind of people I surround myself with,” she said.

Though not easy, the way she deals with trials helps her become closer to God. “Ang tingin ko sa buhay is ‘pag merong mga trials, lagi kong tinatanong kay Lord, 'Ano ba [ang] gusto mong matutunan ko dito?' [It’s probably His way of] making me better,” she shared.

Donita believes that everyone is given the opportunity to be happy every day. “I always think that life is a series of choices… Every day, you can choose how to live,” she concluded.
