Actress and host Alessandra de Rossi is firmly against being best friends with an ex.
On Basta Every Day Happy, she clearly stated that no matter how peaceful a breakup is, ties were still severed and plans were changed.
I think kahit anong breakup, whether pangit or maganda, healthy man para sa inyong dalawa, hindi kayo puwede maging friends right away. Kasi siyempre breakup 'yun eh. Parang broken dreams 'yun eh,” she said.
According to her, it’s possible to still have contact with them and help them when they most need it.
However, the relationship should have defined limitations and the parties involved should respect each other’s boundaries.
“As in wala akong isisikreto sa 'yo pero hindi ko kailangan ng cellphone number mo, hindi natin kailangan mag-lunch sa labas. Kung may kailangan kang importante na feeling mo ako lang makakagawa for you, willing ako pero hanggang dun lang siya,” she emphasized.
Above all, not being close and not being in constant contact with a former lover is common courtesy to one's present or future partner.
