For some, this season is quite challenging because the cold weather makes their beds more inviting than gym. The constant rain also makes it difficult to go out and travel to the gym.

To help you beat the snuggle weather, fitness trainer Joshua dela Cruz recommends these three best workout routine you can do at home during the rainy season.

A big NO: Things people forget before heading to the gym

Jumping jack

Coach Josh suggested that people can start by doing some jumping jack as an exercise.

He said, “Pampa-boost ng stamina, yung blood mo nagfo-flow agad cardio kasi, pang warmp-up mo siya.”

According to healthline.com, jumping jack is a good alternative than using a treadmill or stationary bike, because this type of exercise works your heart, lungs, and muscles at the same time.

Instructions from healthline.com:

1. Begin by standing with your legs straight and your arms to your sides.

2. Jump up and spread your feet beyond hip-width apart while bringing your arms above your head, nearly touching.

3. Jump again, lowering your arms and bringing your legs together. Return to your starting position.

Push-up

Another exercise that people can do inside their home is the tried-and-tested push-up. This exercise strengthens and develops arms, shoulders, core and chest, according to Coach Josh.

Instructions from verywellfit.com:

1. Get on the floor on all fours, positioning your hands slightly wider than your shoulders.

2. Extend your legs back so that you are balanced on your hands and toes. Keep your body in a straight line from head to toe without sagging in the middle or arching your back. You can position your feet to be close together or a bit wider depending on what is most comfortable for you.

3. Before you begin any movement, contract your abs and tighten your core by pulling your belly button toward your spine. Keep a tight core throughout the entire pushup.

4. Inhale as you slowly bend your elbows and lower yourself until your elbows are at a 90-degree angle.

5. Exhale as you begin contracting your chest muscles and pushing back up through your hands to the start position. Don't lock out the elbows; keep them slightly bent.

Squats

After working out your upper body, Coach Josh advised to also try proper workout for your lower body. The best exercise for this is the standard squats.

Squats are great since it activates every muscle in the core down to your lower body.

Instructions from runnersworld.com:

1. Start standing with feet just wider than hip-width apart, toes pointed slightly out, and hands clasped at chest for balance.

2. Initiate the movement by sending your hips back first, then bend knees to lower down as far as possible while keeping your chest lifted.

3. You should lower down until thighs are at least parallel to floor.

4. Press through heels and engage glutes to return back to the starting position.

Stop making excuses about having no opportunity to burn those extra calories, because of the inclement weather.

Try these recommended exercises home and you will feel less sluggish and more energized.

What's more, your body will become a lot stronger and will build immunity to fight off common diseases during the rainy season.
