Veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez marked his 84th birthday surrounded by love, music, and family, showing high spirits despite recently undergoing medical surgery.
The intimate celebration was organized by his wife, Annabelle Rama, with close family members gathering to honor the screen legend. Glimpses of the special occasion were shared online by his grandson Diego Gutierrez through Instagram Stories and daughter-in-law Glydel Mercado's Instagram post on Saturday, Feb. 7, giving fans a heartfelt look at the milestone event.
In one of Diego's expired Instagram Story clips, Eddie appeared cheerful and energized as he performed Carl Perkins' classic “Blue Suede Shoes,” delighting guests even while seated in a wheelchair. Known to many as the “Elvis Presley of the Philippines,” the veteran star brought nostalgia and joy to the celebration as Annabelle stood by his side along with their twin sons, Richard and Raymond Gutierrez.
“84 never looked and sounded this good! Love you so much, lolo Eddie. Happy birthday!” Diego said in the caption.
Earlier this month, Eddie personally addressed fake news circulating that he has passed away.
On his daughter Ruffa Gutierrez's Facebook, a video showing Eddie was uploaded personally debunking the rumor earlier this month.
“Alam niyo, usong-uso ang fake news ngayon, na ako'y sumakabilang buhay na. Hindi po totoo 'yon. Buhay na buhay po ako. I'm still alive and kicking. Hindi pa ako namamatay. Binigyan pa ako ng Panginoon ng mga ilang taon,” Eddie said.
In December 2025, Eddie underwent a procedure for his spine in Singapore.
