Former actor Edgardo "Edgar" Quizon has passed away.
Edgar was the son of the late “Comedy King” Dolphy with former actress Engracita “Grace” Dominguez. They separated in 1963.
Actor-director Eric Quizon announced the sad news today, December 16, on Instagram.
“Farewell, Kuya Edgar. May you find peace in heaven. Please hug Dad, Kuya Freddie, Kuya Rolly, and Dino for me,” wrote Eric.
“You will be missed. We love you. Rest in peace, my brother.”
Edgar reportedly died of pneumonia and was 63 years old.
Some of the movies that Edgar did were Dolphy's Angels, Dancing Master, Good Morning Professor, Sampung Labuyo, and Stariray.
He would often appear in movies produced by his father for RVQ Productions.
Edgar though did not stay for long in the limelight and opted to live privately after showbiz.
The last project credited under his name was the comedy film May Pulis sa Ilalim ng Tulay released in 1989.
Edgar was one of the 18 children of the Comedy King.
Dolphy had six children with Grace, with Edgar being the fifth among all boys.
“Hindi ko pine-presume na magugustuhan ako palagi,” Dolphy told screenwriter Bibeth Orteza, who wrote the Comedy King's 2008 biography book, Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa.
He was referring to his intriguing romantic relationships.
“Iniisip ko nga kung ano'ng mayro'n ako at malapit sa akin ang babae.”
He jokingly said: “Ang mga talagang minahal ko, mabibilang sa daliri ng kamay. Huwag na nating bilangin ang naka-fling, at masisira ang abacus ng Intsik.”
The Comedy King - whose real name is Rodolfo Vera Quízon Sr. - passed away July 10, 2012 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
