Enzo Manzano, son of Edu Manzano and younger brother of Luis Manzano, goes viral as he did a solo protest outside the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York, USA.
Despite living in the US, Enzo empathized with his fellow Filipinos who face many challenges along with the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. To express his solidarity, the young Manzano decided to rally by himself outside the UN Headquarters and appeal to the world.
Enzo stood outside the organization's office for three hours straight, holding his handwritten placards.
He shared his photos on his Facebook account yesterday, June 18, and as of writing time, his post has earned at least 1,700 shares, more than 1,000 comments, and almost 7,000 reactions.
His post read, “Today, I chose to stand outside the United Nations HQ for 3 hours (I have a recorded live video, on my timeline, showing the second half). It took me three days to decide I was actually going to do this. How did I arrive at this decision?
“I realized lengthy Facebook posts don't do the trick... ALSO It only makes me more angry whenever news of our government comes out in the Philippines. The feeling of being useless doesn't help either - whether it's because I'm in New York or the government keeps coming up with ways to silence us back home.
“I was never the type to protest but at this point with all that the Philippine government is doing, it's either you're fighting to keep your country alive or not. Sucks to hear that my fellow Filipinos can't protest back home.. I hope my lone protest can make up for that. At least a little bit!”
Enzo is among the children of celebrities and the younger generation who have been speaking out their concerns and opinions about the current affairs in the Philippines.
