Singer-songwriter EJAE celebrated a major milestone after her song “Golden” won Best Original Song at the 98th Academy Awards.
The singer and her team bested other contenders; "Dear Me" from Diane Warren: Relentless (2024), "I Lied to You" from Sinners (2025), "Train Dreams" from Train Dreams (2025) and "Sweet Dreams of Joy" from Viva Verdi! (2024) and expressed her pride that the song won not only the hearts of viewers but the Oscar jury as well.
"Growing up, people made fun of me for liking K-pop, but now everyone is singing our songs and all the Korean lyrics," said EJAE. "I'm so proud and I realise that this award is not about success but it's about resilience."
"And I'm just so grateful to our team, and I just want to thank my mum, my dad, my brother, my manager for staying with me and I also want to thank, of course, the resilient cast of KPop Demon Hunters."
EJAE, who is the singing voice of the main protagonist Rumi, also performed on the Oscars stage alongside Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna.
The film K-pop Demon Hunters also took home the award for Best Animated Feature at the ceremony.
