TV-movie actor Elijah Canlas admitted in his latest interview with Ogie Diaz that he and Happy ToGetHer actress Miles Ocampo have parted ways.

The actor confirmed their breakup in the latest vlog of Mama Ogs, putting to rest the speculations surrounding their relationship.

Back in November 2023, Elijah also announced that he and Miles had broken up. However, the former couple eventually reconciled a few months later.

Sharing what happened to their relationship, Elijah said he had wanted to keep the matter as private as possible.

“I mean, as much as I've been trying to, like, keep it private, siyempre I'm going through it. Pero dahil lumalabas na nga 'to lahat, I mean, I think it's time for me to say na 'opo, totoo siya.'

“And out of respect for Miles, siyempre I will always have love for her. Yeah, kailangan sabihin na lang rin para wala na 'yung mga speculation na mas makakapagpalala pa itong pinagdadaanan ko, pinagdaanan namin.”

Elijah also reiterated to Ogie that they gave their relationship their all, adding that their decision to part ways was mutual.

“Ayun yung masakit na part about it, kasi when we got back together, thinking, you know, this is it, but that's what happens with relationships.

“Binigay namin ang lahat. We broke up mutually and very amicably. Walang hate, at least on my part.

“Masakit yung ganung klase na mutual, yung wala namang problema pero na-realize n'yo lang na baka hindi na talaga match.

“I don't want to get into the full details, out of respect for her and our relationship. Pero ayun po yung totoo. It was a mutual decision. It wasn't just me; it was her also.

“Doon na kami sa point na noong nag-decide kami, umiiyak lang kami and said thank you to each other for the past five years na mga pinagdaanan namin. Masakit yung ganun, pero nag-decide kami as adults to separate, to break up basically. And we need to respect that kasi desisyon namin 'yon. We have that decision together.”

Despite what happened between him and Miles, the actor said he remains open to becoming friends with her someday.

“I don't know if we can say that now.

“We broke up amicably, yes. But we were together for five years. It's not easy to jump back into being friends like that. It's been a couple of months pa lang. It's been very fresh.

“I'd be open to it, of course. The love will always be there, and she's a great, great person, and I love that. Iba pa yung panahon ngayon. Parang we need to heal.”

Fake news on Thea Astley

Unfortunately, Sparkle singer Thea Astley was also dragged into the breakup rumors, with speculation circulating that she was the reason behind Elijah and Miles' split.

The rumors intensified after a video of Elijah and Thea in La Union went viral online.

During his exclusive chat with Ogie, Elijah stressed that everything people had read about him and Thea was simply “fake news.”

He went on to explain that the Kapuso artist is a good friend.

“There was no third party involved, walang ganun talaga ever. Pero, I don't want to come off as defensive, kasi kaya, like, even when press people would ask, I try not to say that. I don't want to come off as defensive. Pero 'yun ang totoo.”

When asked about his viral video with Thea, Elijah explained:

“Out of respect for Miles and out of respect for Thea, I guess kailangan kong sabihin na ang OA ng mga tao.

“They made a mountain out of a molehill. There was no molehill to begin with.

“Thea and I are just friends, and we've been friends for a while.

“It wasn't just the two of us in Elyu (La Union); we were with our other friends. Kung papanoorin ulit yung video, hindi ko naman siya hinawakan sa kamay.

“Inurong ko lang po siya kasi pipiktyuran ko sila. Nandito 'yung picture na 'yun sa akin, 'yung nag-video nga kung sino man 'yung nag-video, kita ko siya dun sa likod nung film photo ko na 'yun.

“It was just really, like, people blew it out of proportion, and that was really unfair to me, to Miles, to Thea, unfair to everybody involved, and to my friends who were there also.

“Pumunta lang ako sa La Union kasi sunud-sunod yung trabaho ko, kaya sabi ko parang gusto kong mag-beach.

“So, nag-beach ako tapos nagyaya lang ako ng mga kaibigan na gustong sumama. Pero magkakaibigan lang talaga kaming lahat. Kaya nakakatawa na ginagawang isyu ng mga tao, though fake news talaga.

“Yung mga ibang tao, sigurado na agad sila kahit yung mga tao, mga public figures, sigurado sila na nagloko ako, na may iba na agad ako. Wala akong bago. I'm just coming off fresh from a breakup. She (Thea) is just my friend.”
