Former Bubble Gang star Ellen Adarna took to Instagram Story to encourage her closest friends and family members to rethink their relationship with certain government officials linked to corruption.
Corruption issue was again in the spotlight after Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) made landfall over Dinalungan, Aurora on Sunday night (November 9), just days after Typhoon Tino (international name: Kalmaegi) caused massive flooding in certain parts of Cebu.
A large area of the country was affected by strong winds and torrential rains that even caused widespread flooding. The country is still grappling over the huge expose that billions of flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways over several years were tagged as anomalous.
In her Instagram Story, Ellen stressed that her family and friends in Cebu should cut ties with corrupt politicians and contractors already.
“Question…. Since I have a handful of friends/ family who are associated with corrupt politicians and contractors… how many of us still turn a blind eye to corruption because it's “family” or “friends”?
“Have you taken a stand and cut ties with these individuals/families? Or do we just keep pretending nothing's wrong? Laughing, beso diri ug didto and showing up to their extravagant million-peso parties when invited?” Ellen noted.
She added, “I'm seeing a lot of posts because Filipinos are upset and want accountability but as soon as you all get invited to their parties and gatherings, you all still show up. Cebu is so small we know who the corrupt ones are. Cut ties with these mfs!!!
“And then they make your business harder. Mao nau style. Dili ka nila hilomon. Lisod lisodron lang ka sa panginabuhi. All of a sudden, every approval is delayed. Every document questioned. Every rule bent just enough to just make it too expensive or too stressful for you to keep speaking. Quiet power. Loud control. ”
