The 2025 MAMA Awards began its two-part festivities on Friday with an energetic first night at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium, setting the stage for another year of standout achievements in K-pop. The event gathered fans and artists from across Asia, turning the venue into a massive celebration of music, performance, and fandom power.

Actor and singer Park Bo Gum led the opening night of the 2025 MAMA Awards, a star-studded event that celebrated the biggest names in K-Pop. The ceremony saw two of its most prestigious Daesang awards handed out early.

Two of the evening's most prestigious recognitions were revealed early on. ENHYPEN captured the Fans' Choice of the Year award, highlighting their strong global support. The viral hit “APT,” performed by ROSÉ alongside Bruno Mars, secured Song of the Year, reinforcing its status as one of the year's most influential releases. Meanwhile, IVE took home two awards, earning both Favorite Global Performer and Favorite Female Group.

The MAMA Awards also showed solidarity in the recent catastrophe that shook the city. On November 26th, a major fire erupted at Wang Fuk Court, a 32-story residential high-rise in Tai Po, northern Hong Kong, triggering an immediate emergency response. In a statement, the MAMA Awards said, “We aim to create a time to share sorrow and mourn together, and contribute through donations to support the victims.” They added that the ceremony would move forward with a careful approach to stage design and performances, prioritizing messages of comfort and hope over elaborate production.

The MAMA Awards 2025, a two-day event, continues with Chapter 2 on November 29 at 6:30 p.m. Philippine time at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium.
