After several years, Enrique Gil returns to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), not only as an actor but also as a producer.
The 32-year-old is co-producing one of the 2024 MMFF entries titled Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital.
“It's a pretty big deal. I'm just super happy working with Direk Erik Matti and Tito Dondon [Monteverde]. I'm so thankful for them for allowing us to work together,” Enrique Gil told GMANetwork.com and other entertainment media at a recent media conference.

“Okay din siya. I mean, you get to see the other side sa production,” the actor-producer said.
“Ngayon, you understand why time is very important. Lahat ng mga problemang nangyayari sa set, it could be delays and some stuff, it really means a lot. I mean, ganun talaga, hindi mo maiiwasan yun.”
Strange Frequencies is the second movie that Enrique Gil has produced. He previously co-produced his comeback movie titled I Am Not Big Bird. As a producer, Enrique Gil always gives importance to quality.
“Ako, quality talaga more than anything,” he reiterated.
“Biased talaga ako sa quality hanggang ngayon, kahit pa magalit sa akin ang producer. Ako, more of quality and safety for our actors and lalo na sa crew. Kailangan proper rest and proper time. Kahit ma-delay nang kaunti, may extra dates, I will always go for it talaga.”
As a newbie producer, Enrique Gil enjoys being part of the creative process of film production.
“Creating, having a say on things. Creating stuff. In a way, being an actor, you also create, e. You create your character, you play like this. But to be able to create more than just a character but stories, scenes, collaborate more, create genres na hindi pa nagagawa… I think mas exciting sa akin yun kasi yun talaga ang gusto kong gawin, matagal na.”

For the longest time, Enrique Gil has been known in showbiz as an actor. It was only in the past couple of years when the former teen star slowed down on his career and started doing things on his own.
Enrique explained. “I think it's a way of growing up lang. It's just me growing up, looking for the next chapter. Ako kasi, ayaw ko namang forever nasa harap ako ng camera. Parang there will be a time na, I think, I'll just take a seat back and do it from behind the camera., but I'm still able to give content, entertainment to the Filipinos. Yunb naman ang gusto ko, e. It's my way of giving back to the industry na binalikan ko, na kinalakihan ko rin.”
Enrique further noted, “Sabi ko nga, I don't plan on being an artist forever. My showbiz [career] and being career is not my whole life. It's just part of my whole life. There's more to me than just being an actor, being a producer, being in showbiz.”
In the end, the actor-producer said his end goal would be starting his own family.
“I think, at the end of the day… I mean, kapag tumanda ka na at lahat, yeah, people will remember you, but sino yung mga tao sa tabi mo on your last days? Those are what really matter. You know, money, fame…
“Para sa akin, kapag nasa deathbed ka na, sa huling mga oras mo, it really means nothing to me. Yung mga loved ones mo, yun talaga what really matters to me. This is really just a part of my job,” he concluded.
