Like the old cliche goes, "Comedy is serious business". These words are taken literally by the people responsible for Nuts Entertainment's success.
Like the old cliche goes, "Comedy is serious business". These words are taken literally by the people responsible for Nuts Entertainment's success. Moving to a new timeslot has worked wonders for the show, as the ratings reveal. iGMA got to talk to one of its hosts, Anjo Yllana about this. – Text by Erick Mataverde. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. Something New, Something Borrowed "May bago akong ginagawa ngayon sa Nuts. Parang si Tulfo, its working naman. Parang Imbestigador na ganun, parang Mike Enriquez. Nag-aasign ng mga missions to do this and, do that, but comedy. That's something new and so far okay naman, gusto naman ng tao," Anjo explained. starsHe continued, "So far yung bagong ginagawa namin, kagat naman ng tao, nag-shoot [up] kami sa ratings. Kung sa ratings ibig sabihin, tao yan. So mas nagustuhan nila yung ginagawa namin." This new segment, dubbed as 'So Far, Sugod' finds Anjo playing the role of the boss of an outfit that assigns different 'missions' to the show's stars with the sole objective of completing them in their own manner. And, as he mentioned, these mission objectives are humorous in themselves. Hence, coupled with the antics of the show's cast, it seems to be a perfect formula for hilarity. "Kasi minsan rin yung comedy, like Nuts Entertainment, we've been on the air like for five years na. Siyempre, after five years, no matter how good, yung segment minsan may sawa factor, any show naman may sawa factor. So yun nga we have to look for new things to do," he confided. Never Old, Always Unique But when we asked him if it is just solely bringing in new things to the show basis for it rating, Anjo had to distinguish some of Nuts Entertainment's old segments' uniqueness. "Sa 'Balakubak' (Balita at Kwentong Bakla, which is a regular segment in the show) naman, hindi masyadong sawa factor yun kasi depende sa guest yan eh, kasi iba yung guest, iba yung appproach, iba yung mga tanong, iba yung mga sagot. "Like the last episode we had we yung kay Antoinette Taus, maraming interested dun kasi kararating lang niya, so you have to ask: Mahal ba pa niya si Dingdong (Dantes) or what really happened, bakit sila nag-break? There were questions that were left hanging, so yun yung ano sa Balakubak," he illustrated. starsContinuing on, he also divulged, "Like ngayon parang I was suggesting na guest namin si Kiko (Pangilinan), kasi di ba, si Sharon (Cuneta), sumagot na, break-up ito, hindi pa namin naririnig yung guy. We were hoping na he would guest para sa kanya naman. Totoo bang ano? In a light manner, hindi yung talagang seryososng seryoso." "In fact we've guested Chiz (Escudero), we've guested Bayani Fernando, so kumbaga minsan depende sa issue. Kasi siyempre katulad ni Senator (Kiko Pangilinan), showbiz yung asawa," he stated. Audience Awareness Anjo is obviously grateful at the current accomplishments of Nuts Entertainment, thus far, and he is in tune to the fact of what their audience needs to keep them interested episode after episode. "Number one, we like to thank our viewers kasi sometimes we show like midnight na eh. So the mere fact that they are there, we really appreciate that na they wait for us, they watch our show kahit puyatan. So we thank you and we promise you na every week kasi we really plan. Kunwari yung guests, kami naman we don't really guest, just para may tao. We want guests who people would want without saying. We want to put somebody, na yung gusto nila, without saying, 'Gusto namin guest ninyo si ganito.'. Kumbaga we try our best to read our audience's mind," he said.
