“I guess, [I] wouldn't be the AGT kid anymore.”
This is what former Asia's Got Talent 2015 finalist Gwyneth Dorado said about herself as she attempts to make a name in the local music industry.
Gwyneth, who joined the popular talent search show when she was 10 years old, recently released a new single titled “Tulala.”
Now 17, the young singer said, “Definitely, nag-iba na ako. Sobrang iba po. Nag-mature na rin po. I guess, a new artist lang po talaga. If you incorporate AGT po, I don't think it would fit.”
Gwyneth was interviewed by select entertainment media, including GMANetwork.com, at a pocket press conference prepared recently by her talent management, Virtual Playground.
Gwyneth has also gained a lot more confidence throughout the years. After AGT, she also joined a couple of musicals such as Annie and The Sound of Music. With regard to vocal techniques, the teenage singer believes she has improved a lot especially since she underwent vocal coaching.
“Siyempre, noong AGT po, very obvious na bata yung voice. But thanks to my coaches po, talagang nag-evolve po siya. Scientifically ko po siya na laman, you know, the breathing, yung tamang posture, everything those vocal technical.
“I would say that [my voice] has improved a lot. Hindi po sa pagmamayabang, pero I've seen my growth sa voice ko. It's a lot more full and I would say mas comfortable po ako kumanta nang kumanta. Kahit ilang kanta pa 'yan, sige, G lang ako. I wouldn't be tired like before.”
She also tries to widen her range by trying different types of music.
“Siyempre, mag-e-experiment din po ako na, 'Kaya ko ba 'to?' Like this genre could be comfortable for me,” said Gwyneth, who later showed her rapping skill by performing a part of EZ Mill's “Panalo;” and her powerful voice by singing “The Movie in My Mind” from the popular musical Miss Saigon.
Now that she wants to continue her music career, Gwyneth is full of determination and inspiration. “It's always my passion po kasi,” she concluded.
