Mark Cardona arrest

Ex-PBA player Mark Cardona was arrested in Bonifacio Global City over alleged harassment and assault.

Former professional basketball player Mark Cardona was arrested in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on Saturday, March 28, 2026, following an alleged incident involving harassment and physical assault.

According to a police report, a 21-year-old woman claimed that the 44-year-old Cardona “bigla siyang hinawakan sa kamay at hinalikan nang walang pahintulot.” “However, the suspect became aggressive, pushed her boyfriend, and challenged him to a fight. They then approached a bouncer to report the incident, but the suspect continued to act aggressively and even poked the boyfriend's eyes,” the report added.

The report further stated that several other women approached the victim and claimed they had experienced similar incidents involving the former basketball player. Security personnel from the bar assisted the victim and her boyfriend and escorted them to the police station to file a complaint.

According to Police Captain Melvin Garcia, head of the Taguig City Police Public Information Office and Investigation and Detection Management Section, Cardona underwent inquest proceedings.

He is currently facing complaints of acts of lasciviousness and physical injury.

Cardona is known for his stint in the Philippine Basketball Association, where he earned the nickname “The Captain.” He last played in the league in 2016.

The former athlete had also previously been involved in a physical injury case related to alleged abuse of his live-in partner, as well as complaints of estafa and reportedly pawning a stolen vehicle.

Authorities are still attempting to obtain a statement from Cardona.
