
The whole Philippines woke up to a sad morning today, June 24, after the news broke out that former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.
It was later confirmed by Super Radyo DZBB and several news agencies that the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines had already died at the age of 61.

According to dzBB reporter Allan Gatus, some of the personalities spotted in the Capitol Medical Center were Noynoy's sister Kris Aquino, former Senator Mar Roxas, and former Secretary Rene Almendras.

The death of Pnoy shocked social media with the hashtag RIP PNoy quickly reaching the top spot of trending topics on Twitter Philippines.
Several personalities also mourned the death of the former president, who ran in the 2010 presidential election and ran under the slogan of 'Daang Matuwid.

The late President Aquino is the son of the late democracy icons former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. and former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
He is survived by his sisters Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abellada, Viel Aquino-Dee, and TV host-actress Kris Aquino.
Based on the statement released by the Aquino family in the afternoon, PNoy died peacefully in his sleep.
Part of the statement read, “Our brother, Benigno “Noynoy” S. Aquino III died peacefully in his sleep.
“His death certificate pronounced his death at 6:30 AM due to RENAL DISEASE secondary to DIABETES.
“No words can express how broken our hearts are and how long it will take us to accept the REALITY that he is gone.”
