Brandon 'The Truth' Vera may be a dual citizen of the United States and the Philippines, but he will always consider the latter his home.
"May negosyo, may bahay, may lupa na ako dito. Dito na kami talaga. Pabalik-balik [sa Amerika], but this is home. Everybody wants to go to America and everywhere else, but for me, I want to be here.
"Mahirap dito, pero mahirap talaga sa buong mundo. Ayusin mo ang lugar mo, ang bansa mo," he tells GMANetwork.com in an exclusive interview on the set of Magpakailanman.
The current ONE Championship heavyweight champion will star in this Saturday's episode of the said drama anthology, where he'll play a blind man from Denmark who will fall in love with a blind Filipina played by Devon Seron.
He shares, "It's a romcom love story. Super layo from action or BuyBust, but I'm having a really, really good time doing this. Ang saya talaga. The story, nakakatawa, nakakaiyak."
The MMA fighter also has his hands full with a new movie, a possible title defense by the end of 2018, and the opening of Alliance Training Center Philippines.
"I have a movie, and I have to finish filming by the end of August kasi I go straight to camp for us to defend our title with ONE Championship. Pangarap namin na may laban sa katapusan ng taon. Hinihintay ko pa ang sagot ng kalaban at ng ONE Championship, kung dito sa Pilipinas, sa Bangkok o sa Shanghai. Magbubukas na rin ang gym natin dito sa Pilipinas, sa Katipunan area."
When it comes to acting on TV, Brandon says he doesn't really have a concrete plan.
"[Dito kasi] kailangan exclusive ka. Kahit sa fight organization, hindi ako exclusive. May stipulation pa rin doon. So I don't have any plans. A lot of people have approached me already, but I guess I'm letting my management sort through the offers and where I fit the best."
Don't miss Brandon Vera and Devon Seron in "Nakikita Kita: A Blind Love Story" this Saturday, August 18, in Magpakailanman.
