Heart Evangelista has turned into a household name in the fashion and art scene, making her no less than synonymous to anything glam. And while the Queen of Creative Collaborations' esteemed involvements with both local and international beauty brands may come intimidating, it is not totally difficult to get her ageless and flawless glow.
Tip #1 Moisturize, moisturize!
Heart makes sure to keep moisturized to beat aging.
She shared about her routine, “First, I cleanse my skin. I use Shu Uemura, the oil, to take out the makeup. Then, I'm really heavy with my moisturizer, so a lot on my neck. I am a Pond's endorser so I do a lot of anti-aging for my neck. On my face, I just really concentrate on my eyes and the jaw area because I break out when it's too moisturized or if there's too much oil.
“For my eyes, I'm very generous, and my lips and the jaw area. And for my neck, it could look like a mask, I really don't care because that's the first thing that ages. And anything that overflows goes to my hands and my elbows, she added.
Tip #2 Let your skin breathe.
Heart does not deny that she is an avid user of makeup, but there are steps she prefers to skip to let her skin breathe.
She said, “I wear makeup every day. I'm not gonna pretend, I fix my eyebrows every day. I also have like a little jar of concealer because I have hives. Like today when I get stressed, I get like parang pantal so it always gets red so I always put concealer. I'm also a lipstick girl so I make sure that I have like a nude or a red lippie in my bag, and blush on.
“[But] I don't wear foundation. I put the concealer only on the spots that I need but then, as much as possible, I try not to wear foundation. Or maybe a nice BB cream would also be okay but again not so much on your T-zone for me, because I'm very oily on my T-zone,” Heart continued.
Tip #3 Avoid the sun.
Heart undoubtedly loves the sun and the beach, but she knows how to enjoy things in moderation.
She revealed, “Well, I avoid the sun. I avoid the sun but sometimes like when I go to the beach, [I go] all out. But as much as possible, not make it so much of a lifestyle even if it's so fun. It really ages you so parang if it's especially my source of income, you know I have to make sure that [I take care of my skin], and I also get a lot of melasma, 'cause my mom had a lot of the big freckle map ones, I really have to avoid that. “
Tip #4 Be cautious of following beauty hacks.
As a young teenager, Heart admittedly became conscious about her appearance. But looking back, the Kapuso artist advises against following unfounded beauty hacks.
She shared, “I totally did the Bloody Mary when I first got it. I did that when I was young. I don't think it works. I was breaking out when I was 13, 14 so I had to put bangs. But that's definitely not real. You just have to chill and it will pass.
“I don't know [why I did that], everyone kept on telling me, my yaya, my mom. Although it wasn't as graphic as people would imagine, I really did try it once. I regretted it after. It really didn't do anything,” she said.
Tip #5 Lead a healthy lifestyle.
Beyond all the regimen she follows to keep her skin glowing and healthy, Heart strongly believes that one's lifestyle greatly affects one's looks.
She claimed, “Definitely [keep yourself] hydrated. I've never considered myself mestiza or anything. I'm even very yellow but because I think I drink a lot of water, I work out, I feel like my blood circulation is good so parang I feel like I'm glowing more compared to when I'm not healthy,[na] parang I'm grayish. So definitely, lifestyle is the best.
“I sleep. I'm out by 9 P.M. or sometimes 9:30 P.M. 10 P.M. is pushing it but I'm up by 4 A.M. so I really have to sleep,” she ended.
