But did you know that the former PBA player-turned-actor is quite the opposite when it comes to his kids?

This was attested to by his daughter and Kapuso actress Winwyn Marquez.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the Dahil Sa Pag-ibig actress mentioned that her dad is a wise man proving that he is more than meets the eye.

When asked what was one lesson from his dad that helped her throughout her career, she mentioned, "He always tells me that it's better to be smart than beautiful.

“You know, in showbiz maraming magaganda talaga.

“So, ang hirap din na hindi ka ma-insecure.

“But at the same time kung alam mo 'yung ginagawa mo, you're smart with your decisions, and you're comfortable on your own skin, dedma!

“Sinasabi ng dad ko, 'If they say you're ugly, if they say hindi ka para diyan, dedma! You're smart!'

“So, I'd rather be smart than just be beautiful."

Aside from constantly reminding her that beauty is nothing without intelligence, Winwyn said her dad is always within arm's reach when it comes to making decisions.

“He's very wise, he's realistic, and he's very practical when it comes to decision-making.

“Sabihin natin sa money, kasi 'di ba, meron perception na when you're in showbiz dapat you have to have these kinds of brands, you have to wear this or wear that.

“So, my dad taught me na, 'Maging praktikal ka kahit artista ka.'

“So, he tells me to invest on things na magagamit ko talaga.”

“For example, a bag is still a bag. So, why would you buy a really expensive bag na hindi mo pa talaga kayang bilhin?

“If another bag costs less and you're gonna put the same things in it naman, why not purchase that instead, 'di ba?"
