Lovi even had to fold pages so she knows what to read whenever she needs to cry for 'Beautiful Strangers.'

Have you ever wondered where actors get all the power to cry multiple times for a movie or show? Sure, it's part of what they signed up for, but sometimes they need a little motivation to produce buckets of tears in front of the camera.

For Kapuso actress Lovi Poe, who always lands on dramatic roles, she turns to her favorite books when she's having difficulty crying.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, the Owe My Love star recalled two books that helped her to act heavy drama scenes in her previous teleseryes.

The 2012 romance novel “Me Before You” written by Jojo Moyes served as the “tear engine” for Lovi when she was doing Beautiful Strangers.

Finished this book in a span of 2 days. I couldn't put it down no matter how busy I was. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that I loved the book or If I regret reading it. As you can see my eyes and nose are swollen from all the crying.. My shirt is all wet because of my tears. My heart is in pieces now. Oh Jojo Moyes, you broke my heart. 💔 #HagulgolLevel 😂 #MeBeforeYou #JojoMoyes @jojomoyesofficial

“Naalala ko, during Beautiful Strangers, kailangan ko laging umiyak sa eksena,” she said.

“So, 'pag nauubusan na ako way to motivate myself, babasahin ko lang yung isang part.”

Lovi shared that she even folded the pages that she can read whenever she needs to cry for a scene.

“Meron ako ditong mga naka-fold na pages na puwede kong basahin para magsimula ulit 'yung tear engine ko, para makaiyak ako for a scene, 'pag nauubusan na ako ng luha.”

Meanwhile, for Someone to Watch Over Me, Lovi made use of the tear-jerking parts of the romantic novel “It Ends with Us” by her favorite author Colleen Hoover, as a drive to cry 50 times a day!

Who's your person? ♥️ “I don't know how he calmed me down without even talking, but he did. Some people just have a calming presence about them and he's one of those people.” #ItEndsWithUs @colleenhoover

“Itong book na 'to, hinding hindi ko siya makakalimutan 'cause isa rin ito sa mga ginagamit ko noong nag-shoot kami ng Someone to Watch Over Me, at kailangan ko din umiyak sa halos lahat ng eksena.

“At siyempre, hindi mo naman puwedeng gamitin lagi yung ginagamit mo to cry 50 times a day.”

Lovi also emphasized how much she loves the story by quoting the iconic line “Sometimes the one who loves you is the one who hurts you the most” during the interview.

The talented actress and obvious bookworm just proves that reading books can indeed be more than just a leisure activity.
