Kapuso actor and vlogger Mikael Daez has sound advice for those who are interested in starting their own vlogs.
For starters, he feels that it doesn't really matter what camera you use.
"The best camera that you can use is the one you have at the moment. Even I adhere to that. Sometimes, I'm in a place and I feel like I could vlog it but I didn't bring my actual vlogging camera. If I have my phone, I actually use that. That's actually pretty fine," Mikael says in an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com
What's important is the story you want to tell and how you tell it.
"I mean at the end of the day, it's still the content and the story [which are important]. You can have a really nice camera but not know how to stitch your story together, then it's kind of useless. Use whatever you have and as you continue using it, you'll learn how to make the most out of whatever it is you have," he shares.
Even if he were to be given an unlimited budget, Mikael says that he will stick to the personal and simple vlogs that he does.
"If budget is not a consideration and you're gonna go all out, I wouldn't really want to go too much. For me, the heart and soul of a vlog is that it's very personal and you're telling a very personal story. If I were to create a whole staged set up just to film my life, it doesn't seem very real," Mikael muses.
"I could do that and it would be cool doing it, pero it doesn't really mean na it's the best way to do it. I think vlogging became it's genre in itself. For me, the definition is to be very true and personal. I like doing that with just a camera in hand," he adds.
Mikael has over 80,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel and has vlogs which range from camping out in Alaska to hiking in Nepal and more.
