PC builder Mark van Acosta shares how he built Alden Richards's custom gaming setup with actor Paulo Avelino.

In an exclusive phone interview with GMANetwork.com, PC builder Mark van Acosta of Declassified Systems shares the story of how he built Alden Richards's custom gaming setup with actor Paulo Avelino.

According to Mark, it was the Kapamilya actor who introduced him to the Asia's Multimedia Star.

“Si Paulo [Avelino] talaga 'yung pinakasuki ko kasi lima na 'yung nagawa ko sa kanya and then he was the one who referred me to Alden [Richards]. So, dun kami nagkakakilala.”

Upon meeting Mark, Alden then relayed the specs he wanted and the PC builder got to work.

Mark recalls, “'Yung kay Alden, gusto niya 'yung pang-gaming and streaming. Then based dun, pumili ako ng specs kaya 'yung Asus 'yung pinili ko for monitors niya at lahat ng kailangan.

“Sa PC naman, most of the time ako 'yung nagre-recommend kung anu-ano 'yung magagandang parts. At 'di lang 'yun yung kino-consider ko siyempre budget din.

“Kasi sasabihin ni client usually, 'Sir, 'yung budget ko ganito lang ano ba'ng maganda?'

“Base dun sa ibibigay niyang price, magbibigay naman ako ng magandang recommendation based sa budget niya at sa pangangailangan niya.

“Kasi 'di naman puwedeng mag-setup ako ng pang-gaming pero editing pala ang kailangan niya or pang-render ng videos kasi magkaiba 'yung pangangailang nun.”

But what's surprising is the fact that, although a lot of people have been amazed by Alden's setup, Mark considers it only a standard setup for a lot of gamers.

“'Yung kay Alden, standard lang 'yun and tama lang 'yun para sa kanya and 'yun 'yung pinaka-basic.

“To tell you quite frankly, I had done more extreme builds compared to Alden's. 'Yung iba mga one million and I've done a build na umabot na ng 1.5 million --at sa PC lang 'yun.

“So, depende talaga sa kailangan.”

Add to that, it was Paulo Avelino who helped buy other accessories for Alden's very first gaming and streaming setup to help welcome the actor in the community.

Mark says, “May mga parts na binili si Paulo para kay Alden kasi 'di niya alam kung ano'ng bibilhin niyang table at streaming setup.

“E, si Paulo streamer 'yan e. So, sa streaming, kung ano 'yung gamit niya, 'yun din 'yung ni-recommend niya para kay Alden.

“Mga accessories lang but all the PC parts and monitors ako lahat nag-recommend nun para lahat bagay.”

Mark claims that Alden wasn't as hands-on with the build and let the expert do his job. However, he does have one request from the builder and that is it should have touches of blue --his favorite color.

“'Yun lang 'yung request niya sa akin, e. Dapat color blue and the rest is black.

“Siguro nakita niya 'yung dating build ko para kay Paulo na black and blue and favorite color niya 'ata is blue kaya pinangalan ko siyang 'Azure' from the hue color.

“Pero all-in-all, wala silang dini-dictate sa akin, e. Ako lang magde-decide kung ano 'yung itsura and 'yung pagka-work of art ng PC at watercooling system.

“'Yun 'yung gusto ko na unique per client at wala siyang kamukha.”

Shortly after revealing the custom build, Mark was shocked to find an influx of inquiries from potential clients, fans, and media alike.

“Iba 'yung sa kanya kasi mas maraming inquiries ngayon. 'Di ko na nga ma-accommodate 'yung iba, e.

“Pero nakakatuwa kasi napag-usapan namin nung una is dapat secret lang. Which is, wala namang problema kasi 'di naman lahat ng clients ko pino-post ko at hinihingan ko muna ng consent.

“Pero, nung pumunta si Alden at nag-usap kami, tinanong ko siya kung puwedeng magpicture kami sa tabi ng PC at tuwang-tuwa pa siya!

“Nagulat ako sa reaction niya kaya tinanong ko muna kung pwede kong i-post at i-tag siya sa Facebook. Tapos sabi niya, 'Okay lang yan kuya, banggitin mo ako!'

“Nagulat din ako kasi nag-post rin siya tapos tinag pa ako. Usually rare 'yung mga ganun e. So, nakakatuwa rin kasi may extra exposure ako.

“Pero 'di pa rin tapos si Alden ng pag-thank you sa akin sa group chat namin nina Paulo.”

He shares that he has been building custom PCs since 2005 and already has a roster of clients in the country and abroad. This includes clients from Singapore, Dubai, Canada, Africa, and celebrities like Mark Maglasang of Ex Battalion and Paulo Avelino's Filipina-Australian girlfriend Jodilly Pendre.

“I do the best I can with every project whether it's a local or a client build from other countries.

“Kasi for me, this is not a job but a passion. The custom PC builds are my work of art and this is the only way that I can express myself, encourage others, and inspire them,” he concludes.
