If given a chance, Rovilson Fernandez would also like to try acting on TV. "I would love to play like the bad guy or something with a lot of drama."
Fresh from his win at the 2019 Alta Media Icon Awards, Ang Pinaka host Rovilson Fernandez has officially inked his contract with the network today, October 18.
Together with him are GMA executives Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, SVP for News and Public Affairs Marissa Flores, and SAVP for Public Affairs Neil Gumaban.
The bubbly 6-foot host shares that he feels elated to be part of the Kapuso network after 12 years hosting the weekly show.
“Today felt like it was my christening, you know?” he tells GMANetwork.com
“It's like the first time I'm being brought out into TV, and this new world, and I love it. I love that it keeps things fresh.
“I've been involved with GMA News for more than 12 years now and the show's been running for 15 years. I mean, I'm never tired of what I do, you know? But today is particularly special.
“To tell you the truth, I couldn't sleep last night because I'm just happy to be a part of the Kapuso family.”
If there's one thing he's learned from GMA throughout the years, it is loyalty.
“Loyalty, and treat those who treat you good. Also, give your best work at all times and always show enthusiasm and love.
“And if you put all those things together, good things will definitely happen.”
Rovilson as a future actor
Speaking of keeping things fresh, the Kapuso host and UNICEF ambassador mentions keeping his line open for any possible acting projects in the future.
He tells, “Wow! You know I would absolutely love to.
“I'm not the one to make demands about the character but I'd love to play something that would be far off from my everyday character.
“I would love to play like the bad guy or something with a lot of drama or you know something opposite from my everyday antics or everyday personality.
“Because it's acting, right? You have to be someone else and I'd like to give it a try.”
And his peg? None other than lifestyle host turned Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding.
“My peg is Henry Golding talaga, he's a fantastic host who became a great actor.
“And so, there's a lot of room to grow, so we'll see.”
