Faith Cuneta

How did Faith Cuneta feel after hearing she'll be back in the Asianovela scene? Find out.

Faith Cuneta is officially back in the Asianovela scene as she sings the official Philippine track for GMA's latest K-drama offering, Misty.

During a one-on-one virtual interview with GMANetwork.com, the Queen of Asianovela couldn't help but remember the time she got a call from GMA Network's First Vice President Joey Abacan.

She says, “It was GMA Executive Joey Abacan who started it all.

“He called me to ask if he could use my song for Stairway to Heaven, which is the Filipino adaptation starring Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos.

“So, I said, 'Yes of course! Why not?'

“Kasi, it happened around 15 years ago so parang okay ah. I can hear my voice every day.”

Her initial reaction upon hearing her voice again on the small screen made her realize how much her voice has changed over the years.

Adding, “But I enjoyed listening to it kasi nandyan na naman 'yung boses ko and I'm happy about it.”

Three weeks passed and she got a call again from Joey Abacan requesting if she could sing the soundtrack for Misty that had her saying “yes” in a heartbeat.

She recalls, “Sabi niya, 'Do you want to sing for the new Koreanovela called Misty?

“Siyempre sinabi ko, yes! Of course! When are we gonna record?

“I didn't know the song yet. So sabi niya he'll get back to me then.

"But I was excited kasi who would've thought that after this pandemic, you would get that privilege and blessing.”

What escalated her excitement was knowing that she would be singing the 1985 song “It Must Have Been Love” originally sung by the band Roxette.

“When they told me that the song would be 'It Must Have Been Love'... [my reaction was] Oh my gosh! That's from the Pretty Woman movie which everybody loves. So I got so excited about the song.

“And then the arranger was the same for 'Pag-ibig Ko'y Pansinin' from Stairway to Heaven which is Elmer Blanco, I'm kind of comfortable na. And dun na nag-start.

“We had a schedule na for the recording which is June 15. So ang saya-saya and na-excite talaga ako.

“While waiting for the schedule to record, I got super excited while learning the song.”
