Glaiza de Castro Trese

The viral video shows Trese trailer clips overlayed with Glaiza's voice taken from her past shows.

A fan-made video of Trese featuring the voice of Kapuso actress-singer Glaiza de Castro has gone viral.

Cosplayer Kuina Hikari created and uploaded the video on Facebook, stirring up debate on who's better suited to voice the main protagonist in the Netflix anime series.

Trese is a dark fantasy series derived from the Filipino graphic novel of the same name.

Actress Liza Soberano was tapped by Netflix to voice the lead character, Alexandra Trese.

Some though were not happy with Liza's delivery and instead vouched for other names they felt are more deserving of the role.

One of the names that were mentioned was Glaiza de Castro.

“Glaiza has always been the fan-favorite for years! Ang 'Trese' ginawa para po sa mga nagbabasa nun, hindi para sa fans ni Liza kaya wag n'yo i-invalidate ang feelings ng 'Trese' fans,” Kuina wrote.

“'Di po kami bitter, flat and monotonous ang kinalabasan kasi. Nasapawan din siya ng mga kasama niyang VAs (voice actors). Parehas din naman silang magaling na actor!”

In the viral video, Kuina painstakingly stitched together lines delivered by Glaiza from her past shows and overlayed them on the Trese trailer.

Meanwhile, voice actor Inka Magnaye defended Liza against criticisms of her performance in the anime series.

“Liza Soberano's voice is perfect for the character. It's got a great balance of youthfulness and grim,” Inka wrote on Twitter.

“A bit more exaggeration could have added more dimension, even an exaggeration of a deadpan delivery.”

She added, “Liza Soberano isn't monotonous. She has dynamics in her delivery.

“However, she tends to deliver her lines in almost the exact same cadence, and people confuse that with monotony.”
