Aegis vocalist Mercy Sunot passed away at the age of 48 after battling cancer.

OPM rock icon Mercy Sunot, one of the vocalists of the band Aegis has died at the age of 48.

Mercy's death shocked many fans and netizens, especially those following the singer on TikTok. Last week, Mercy shared an update about her lung operation.

In a statement released on the official Facebook page of Aegis, it was revealed that Mercy was battling cancer.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest.

“Mercy's voice wasn't just a part of AEGIS--it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. There was an outpouring of support and condolences for the family of Mercy Sunot after the confirmation of her death with many fans paying tribute to the Filipina rock icon on social media.
