Joining France in celebrating its second World Cup win after 20 years is Filipino-French Alphonse Areola. Areola is one of the goalkeepers of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The 25-year-old third string goalkeeper was born to Filipino parents who migrated to France, and has been part of the French youth teams since 2008.

Areola received his first senior call cup in 2015. Although he wasn’t able to play during the 2018 World Cup as Hugo Lloris was the first choice goalkeeper, Areola celebrated with the French team for their triumphant 4-2 win over Croatia on Sunday.
