Filipino fan group of BTS member SUGA known as SUGAbabes organized a month-long celebration of his birthday called SUGAfest2023.

SUGAbabes, a Filipino fan group of BTS member SUGA, recently staged a successful fund-raising candlelight performance of the music of BTS and SUGA by a 9-piece string orchestra at the PETA Theater.

Over 400 BTS fans attended the 2-hour show that featured moving renditions of BTS songs such as "Magic Shop," "Spring Day," and "Yet To Come," and SUGA-produced songs like "Eight" by IU and SUGA's Interlude by Halsey. The SUGAbabes group curated the lineup of songs themselves and engaged the Fourscore Events Musicians to arrange and perform.

One hundred percent of net proceeds from this concert as well as other activities carried out by the SUGAbabes group throughout SUGAfest 2023, a month-long celebration of SUGA's birthday, will be donated to their beneficiary for two years running--the Religious of the Good Shepherd through the congregation's development arm, the St. Mary Euphrasia Integrated Development Foundation Incorporated (SMEIDFI), which works toward the protection and development of women and children. The foundation runs shelters - homes - for women and girls who have been victims of abuse, does preventive and advocacy work, and train women and their families in manufacturing and farming, giving them opportunities for alternative livelihood.

These are causes close to Suga's heart. An icon of social causes, SUGA whose real name is Min Yoongi joined a movement to dignify women who were abused during important historical periods for South Korea. Last 2021, he also donated $88,000 to a children's cancer charity.

The SUGAbabes group that is made up of volunteers who all have full-time day jobs raised over PhP330,000 this year. Last year, they donated over P388,000 to RGS through SMEIDFI.

Last 2022, the SUGAfest Organizing Committee turned over P388,600.00 to the Religious of the Good Shepherd through its development arm, the St. Mary Euphrasia Integrated Foundation, Inc.

The SUGAbabes group is made up of fans that belong to the Borahae from Manila community, a private Facebook group with over 23,000 members that is open to all Filipinos who love BTS.

The event they organized has captured the attention of local and international fan accounts as videos of the performances have been making the rounds on social media since the event was held last March 18, 2023.
