The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has recently revealed that more than 19,000 Filipinos have enrolled in TESDA's Online Program (TOP) since March 16, the date when the enhanced community quarantine was announced. It was also the same day TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapena encouraged Pinoys to make the best out of the time they'll be spending at home.
TESDA also reported that they have a daily average of 1,399 new users since March 16 and that 14,602 of the total enrollees are new to the program, while others are returning users.
Still, according to TESDA's survey, 67% of its enrollees admitted that they enrolled in TOP due to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Unlike other online education sites that charge registration or enrollment fees, TOP offers its 68 online training courses for free.
Learners may download a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the course. Once the ECQ is over, those who want to be certified as a skilled learner may go to any TESDA office near their area for assessment and certification.
Among the top sectors chosen by TOP learners are Electrical and Electronics, Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Information and Communications technology, and 21st Century Skills.
TOP also has short courses such as Basic Computer Education, Setting Up Computer Networks, Solar Night Light Assembly, Preparing Cakes, Preparing Meat Dishes, and Food Processing.
TOP courses can be accessed through TESDA's website and the TESDA App, which is downloadable from Google Play and Apple Store.
