Every tabloid and showbiz gossip show is talking about it - is Rochelle Pangilinan going solo? Are the rumors true? iGMA finds out.
The Sexbomb Girls have gone back to Eat Bulaga with one glaring difference - lead singer and dancer Rochelle Pangilinan is no longer seen dancing with the other girls. Is this the start of a new Sexbomb? Are the rumors true that Rochelle will be leaving or has already left the dance group behind? Text by Jason S. Lim. Photos by Connie Tungul. Every tabloid and showbiz gossip show is talking about it - is Rochelle Pangilinan going solo? With her missing from the Sexbomb line-up every Mondays and Wednesdays on Eat Bulaga and with a significantly smaller role in Daisy Siete 14: Siete-Siete Mano-Mano, is the rumor really true that Rochelle will be leaving the group? We caught up with Rochelle after a Sexbomb appearance to ask her just how true the rumor is! “Araw-araw na lang,” was Rochelle’s playful reply. Understandable, considering how many times the dancer has been asked about this rumor. From the time the Sexbomb group rose to fame, Rochelle in particular has been asked this question over and over again. “(Ang) alam ko pasali-sali pa rin naman ako sa kanila, hindi naman totally out na wala na talaga. Normal pa rin, kasama ko pa rin.” Rochelle has been appearing with a band for quite some time now. Even during the height of Sexbomb’s fame, it’s never been an issue with the group that she has her own gigs. But with her recent exclusion from the Sexbomb’s return to Eat Bulaga, the issue was brought back from the dead. “Kasi may inaayos pa sila. At yun nga may ginagawa kaming future project, mga future plans, so tinatapos na namin yun. Baka maunahan.” And does it have something to do with a solo album? Maybe, yes. Rochelle wouldn’t give us a straight answer, saying that she doesn’t know all the details yet and it would be for her manager, Joy Cancio, to reveal. But the manager is as tight-lipped as her talent, saying that she doesn’t want the plans to not fall through because of loose lips. “‘Wag kayong mag-alala. Mas matutuwa kayo kasi may magandang ginagawa si Rochelle at ihahandog niya yan para rin sa inyo.” In an interview with S-Files, Rochelle says that no one can keep her away from the girls and Eat Bulaga for too long. But we couldn’t help but wonder why Rochelle wasn’t with the girls now. “May plans tayo for Rochelle,” Joy explains. “Meron siyang ginagawa ngayon (that’s keeping her busy) at ang target time ko (to announce what it is) will be on April.” The efficient manager also adds that her plans for Rochelle was made before the girls were asked to reappear on Eat Bulaga. And according to Rochelle, while there’s nothing more in the world she’d love more than to return to the show she considers home, they couldn’t just push their plans away for the show. But she did mention that they’re talking about bringing her back as well. But Rochelle reassures her fans that she will be back, sooner or later. And even in Daisy Siete, she reveals that next season, she won’t be just a flashback character but will be acting alongside the other girls once again! “Kasi kaya pasulpot-sulpot din ako kasi nga para dun sa project, so ang dami talagang ginagawa. Yung isang season hindi ka pwedeng mawala na totally out. Pero next season, balik ulit ako,” Rochelle discloses. And she also tells us that she’s very proud of what her fellow Sexbomb Girls have accomplished in terms of acting in the 14th season of their program! Even with the constant revival of the rumors that Rochelle is leaving the Sexbomb Girls, the dancer remains strong in her conviction that she’s not going anywhere. But that’s not to say the the Sexbomb line-up now will forever be the same. While the group is complete and still strong, catch them every weekdays on Daisy Siete airing after Eat Bulaga, where they also appear every Mondays and Wednesdays.
