'Firefly' and 'Green Bones' are among the seven Filipino films shortlisted at the 7th ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards.

GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs' award-winning films, Firefly and Green Bones, continue to gain traction abroad, as both are part of the shortlisted Filipino films at the 7th ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA).

GMA Pictures shared the news on Saturday on its social media pages.

“Honored to share that Firefly and Green Bones have been shortlisted at the 7th ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA),” it said.

Firefly and Green Bones were directed by award-winning film and TV director Zig Dulay.

According to GMA Pictures, AIFFA “celebrates the best in Southeast Asian cinema, recognizing excellence, creativity, and storytelling that inspire audiences across the region.”

Aside from Firefly and Green Bones, five more Filipino films will be participating at the 7th AIFFA happening from November 12 to 15 at Kuching, Sarawak in Malaysia.

The other local films are The Gospel of the Beast by Sheron Dayoc, An Errand by Dominic Bekaert, Avenida by Louie Ignacio, Some Nights I Feel Like Walking by Petersen Vargas, and Mallari by Roderick Cabrido.


Firefly has won several awards locally and internationally, including Best Picture at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in 2023.

Similarly, Green Bones has been recognized multiple times since it was hailed Best Picture at the 2024 MMFF.
