Are you in your 30s or 40s and lamenting the fact that you are so out of shape? Well, don't fret because it's never too late to begin your fitness journey. Take inspiration from fitness coach Bong Baniqued, who is almost 50 years old and is in the best shape of his life.
During his interview with Pinoy MD, Coach Bong said that he's a late bloomer when it comes to living a healthy and active lifestyle.
“Mas fit ako compared when I was younger. Early 30s ako, may mga gout ako eh. May gout ako, may hypertension ako, meron akong gallstone.
“Siyempre kakabasa nang kakabasa, kaka-research nang kaka-research, tapos in-apply ko sa sarili ko, sa awa ng Diyos nag-improve lahat.
“Maski sa mga laboratory (results) ko, 'yung mga number ko, it shows na nag-normalize lahat.”

Bong said his fitness journey began when he met a fitness enthusiast student while he was working as a nurse at a nursing home.
“Meron akong nakilala na student na into body building tsaka mahilig mag-work out. So, naging close friend ko siya.”
Since starting his active lifestyle, Bong never looked back and until this day he works out religiously and works as a group class instructor and personal trainor.
So, if you want to begin your own fitness journey, here are some exercises from Coach Bong that you can try at home.
For your warm-up exercise, do 20 jumping jacks, 20 high knees, and 20 butt kicks.
Then stretch your muscles by doing 10 to 15-second leg, shoulder, and neck stretches.
For your actual workout, do eight to 12 leg presses. If you do not have a leg press machine at home, you can do body weight squats.
Next, work out your chest, shoulders, and triceps on a seated chest press. Alternatively, you can do push-ups to strengthen your upper body and core.
To work on your back muscles, neck, biceps, forearms, and the back of your shoulders, do pulls on a seated cable row. As an alternative, you can do an added weight resistance workout using water gallons.
