Love in the Moonlight

'Love in the Moonlight' is coming to GTV this August and here's why you wouldn't want to miss it!

K-drama enthusiasts rejoice! One of the most popular historical Korean dramas starring Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung is airing on GTV this August 15. Love in the Moonlight is a coming-of-age, youth romance drama that's quirky, funny, and, most of the time, heartwarming.

Set in the 19th-century Joseon Dynasty, the series revolves around the lives of Crown Prince Lee-yeong (Park Bo-gum) and Hong Ra-on/Hong Sam-nom (Kim Yoo-jung), a woman disguising herself as a man. As the two hide their true identity from each other, they still form a peculiar companionship only they can make sense of. Will they unravel each other's secrets and figure out their real identities? Find out on GTV soon!

If you're still contemplating whether you should watch this Koreanovela or not, here are five reasons that will convince you to go for it.

1. The unique historical drama vibe

Unlike usual historical Korean dramas, Love in the Moonlight is light, funny, and heartwarming. It isn't as heavy as other historical dramas due to its quirky approach and that's the charm of it. But that doesn't mean it lacks a dramatic flair as well. The series has its own sentimentality and a lot of episodes that'll make you laugh and cry at the same time. Stay tuned for that!

2. The enticing plot

Right from the first episode of Love in the Moonlight, there are a lot of secrets from each character to unravel. Maybe that's also the reason why people could not stop watching it. Every character from this K-drama has depth and their own story to tell. No matter how infuriating and loveable their roles are, you'll want to know and understand why their personalities are set this way.

3. Friendship is at its cornerstone

Another reason to watch Love in the Moonlight is that it's a touching story that highlights the beauty of friendship. Its encouraging take on companionship makes you all the more grateful for the people in your life who support and give you strength. It also teaches you important life lessons such as trust, honesty, and communication.

4. Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung's chemistry

Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung's personalities fit so well in this K-drama that their connection is undeniable and very much evident. Having the same wavelength of wit and quirk, the amusing onscreen couple makes you feel kilig even in the most subtle of moments. Their chemistry is so smooth and effortless because they share the same comical personality. They even won the Best Couple Award at the 2016 KBS Drama Awards.

5. Popular and a multi-awarded K-drama

During its release in Korea last 2016, Love in the Moonlight received high ratings from its audiences. Along with that, the stellar cast garnered a lot of awards from numerous institutions. At the 2016 KBS Drama Awards, its cast won the Best Actor, Excellent Actress, Best New Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Child Actor, Best Child Actress, Best Netizen Awards, and Best Couple Award. At the 2017 BaekSang Arts Awards, Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung won the Most Popular Actor and Actress awards.
