'Pop Talk' recently debuts its new and exciting cook-off format as it moves to the Tuesday timeslot.

The first-ever Pop Talk cook-off challenge was a rousing success.

For its inaugural battle, the show pitted Chef Gelo Guison against Chef Nathaniel Uy - two kitchen savvy experts who are social media personalities as well.

The two chefs were neck and neck as they pulled off all the tricks in their bag to make the tastiest dish despite limited ingredients.

For the challenge, both chefs had to flex their creativity to make something interesting out of three main ingredients: salmon, flounder, and cheese.

Adding to the pressure was the 30-minute time limit set for the chefs to finish their impromptu specialties.

When the smoke settled, Chef Nathaniel whipped up mouth-watering Portuguese-inspired baked rice.

“Curry 'yong rice natin and then meron siyang cheese sauce and then salmon and then cream cheese na sauce. Then we'll top it with gremolata para lang to counter the richness of the fish and the sauce,” explained Chef Nathaniel.

Chef Gelo, meanwhile, prepared his own flavorful version of seafood truffle cream.

“Kung meron kayong challenge for 30 minutes, seafood ang ideal na iluto dahil napakabilis nitong lutuin. I did my seafood truffle cream in less than 30 minutes,” Chef Gelo said about his French-inspired creation.

It was finally time for Pop Talk host Tonipet Gaba and guest host Pepita Curtis to taste and grade the dishes prepared by the two opposing chefs.

“Congratulations! Maraming salamat sa inyong husay at galing. Ngunit kailangan talaga sa anumang challenge, sa anumang paligsahan, kailangan lang ay may isang mananalo,” said Tonipet to the chefs.
