
Ex-K-pop star and former BIGBANG member Seungri or Lee Seung-hyun in real life was sentenced to three years in prison after a South Korean military court found him guilty yesterday, August 12.
Several reports cited that Seungri was convicted over “multiple charges, including prostitution mediation and overseas gambling.”
According to a CNN article, legal procedures were conducted by a military court in South Korea, since the K-pop idol was undergoing military service.
Seungri enlisted in the military on March 9, 2020.
Meanwhile, he left BIGBANG and the entertainment industry in March 2019.
A month before leaving, the Seoul Police department initiated an investigation to find out the truth about Seungri's involvement in the “Burning Sun Scandal.”
In a Rappler report, Seungri was accused of offering prostitutes to investors of Burning Sun, a nightclub in the Gangnam district.
Soompi also reported that Seungri was fined 1,156,900,000 Korean won by the court as well.

The court commented regarding the charge on prostitution mediation, “The defendant conspired with Yoo In Suk to mediate prostitution for foreign investors on several occasions and gained profits,” and added, “The defendant's crimes that commercialized sex have a large negative influence on society.
