Peter June Simon and Jehza Huelar

We are all excited for the mini-me version of the 'Scoring Apostle!' Jehza Huelar and husband PJ Simon welcome the New Year with baby news.

The year 2021 is going to be a big year for former Magnolia Hotshots player PJ Simon (Peter June Simon) and his beautiful wife Jehza Huelar after they confirmed last week that they will become parents soon.

Before the first day of the New Year ended, Jehza, the former 2018 Binibining Pilipinas-Supranational title holder announced on Instagram that she is pregnant.

She also shared their simple gender reveal party to reveal that the newest addition to their family is a boy.

“Before this day ends, we want to share [with] you the highlight of our #2020 @pjs08 and I are thrilled to announce that a new member of #TheSimons will join us first quarter this year, making it a family of three! PJ, dubbed as 'Scoring Apostle' during his basketball days, married Jehza on May 28, 2019 in a star-studded wedding in Tagaytay. Several big names in the basketball industry and beauty queens attended the special ceremony.

Several of the couple's close friends reacted to the pregnancy announcement including Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and 2018 Miss International first runner-up Ahtisa Manalo.

PJ's retirement

If 2021 marks a new beginning for PJ Simon, he also closed a chapter in his life last year by announcing his retirement from professional basketball.

In a stunning announcement four months ago, he explained his reason why he decided to quit the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

“Binigay ko 'yung 17 years ng buhay ko sa PBA, sa Magnolia Hotshots, at sa lahat ng fans but now it's time to focus on my family. My wife is pregnant and gusto ko magkasama kami as we start a family.”

The Scoring Apostle also expressed his immense gratitude to San Miguel Corp. head honcho Ramon S. Ang and to all the people behind the Purefoods franchise.
