Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes’ screen presence does not fail to captivate, from his first role in a teen-oriented series up to his current role as someone who is bent up on loving until the end of time. GMA’s main man himself reveals what he considers to be his most memorable TV roles so far.
Inaki in T.G.I.S.

Dingdong Dantes started out as a commercial model and a dance group member. Did he always want to become an actor?
“No. Although alam ko naman na ‘yung hilig nasa akin, pero ‘yung plano talaga? Hindi,” he stated.
The Kapuso leading man looked back at his beginnings as an actor and recalled, “My entry in showbiz is via T.G.I.S. I auditioned for the role. That time, they were looking for an actor to portray Inaki Torres and apparently, around that time, I was also airing a TVC, so I got casted.”
He added, “The whole experience is very memorable to me because it’s my first, and siyempre, ‘yun ang aking Baptism of Fire.”
Ybarro/Ybrahim in Encantadia

Encantadia was one of the groundbreaking fantaseryes helmed by GMA in the mid 2000s. The series transported viewers into a different world, and gave them a glimpse of the lives of Sangg’res and other mythical people and objects.
“I’m a fan of Lord of the Rings, so when it was conceptualized, sobrang na-excite ako kasi medyo similar sa gamit ng costumes and in terms of dealing with mythical things and the whole thing just excited me,” Dingdong shared.
He elaborated, “Siyempre, habang ginagawa ko ‘yun, para kaming naglalaro, and at the same time, nagtatrabaho ka rin, and at the same time, it became a breakthrough for me, so everything about Encantadia was very dear to me.”
Sergio in Marimar

Marimar marked the first team up of Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, and Kapuso Primetime Queen, Marian Rivera. For Dingdong, portraying Sergio is a blessing and is something he keeps looking back at with a smile on his face.
When he was given the role of Sergio, he described his feeling as “Masaya. Galing ako sa isang long vacation, and I guess after also determining kung ano ‘yung direksyon ko in terms of choosing roles, I think Sergio was perfect for me. Like what I always say, it was at the right place and the right time.”
After Marimar, Dingdong went on to team-up with Marian in three other Primetime teleseryes, namely Dyesebel, Endless Love and My Beloved. What makes their loveteam work?
Dingdong answered, “I think what helps is that we are both sincere in what we feel, and I think from day one naman, that was the case, regardless if we were together or not, kasi how we are towards each other translates on the screen, so siguro kami, especially if we do our roles, we wanna portray it right all the time. I guess that’s it.”
Cholo in Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven is a Philippine version of the well-received Korean series of the same title. It revolved around the heart-wrenching love story of star-crossed lovers, Cholo and Jodi. To date, Dingdong Dantes considers his role as Cholo to be the most challenging TV role he has ever done.
“’Yung Stairway to Heaven siguro ang pinaka challenging, and it’s also one of the most memorable soaps because ‘yun ‘yung nagbigay sa akin ng PMPC, so talagang siyempre, hindi ko makakalimutan. Also,’yung role ko ‘dun, medyo mahirap din talaga,” he revealed.
Isaak in Genesis

The Primetime King makes a comeback unlike any other as he breathes life into Isaak in upcoming GMA Telebabad series, Genesis. This October, get ready to be taken by a tide of emotions, centering on the concept of love outlasting time itself.
On his newest role, Dingdong shared, “Si Isaak, he’s a very dedicated person. Sobrang nationalistic, sobrang upright ng kanyang values, pero lahat ‘yun masisira dahil sa present situation sa paligid niya which is corruption, and the premise that the world is gonna end soon.”
He added, “Ang objective niya is papaano niya mabibigyan ng pag-asa ang mga taong nakapalibot sa kanya, at ‘yung sarili niya, knowing that even if matatapos ‘yung mundo, paano siya matatapos nang marangal pa rin.”
