Jace Flores may not have won the first season of 'Survivor Philippines', but he's definitely not a loser either. After all, ang reality game competition ang nag-launch sa kanyang career bilang isang bad boy sa prime time television. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos provided by GMA Artist Center.
"It's very fun" is how Jace Flores describes working sa set ng SRO Cinemaserye presents Carinderia Queen.
"Though," he also admits, "the first day, na-pressure ako. Kasi first time ko nakatrabaho sina Carla [Abellana] at saka si Geoff [Eigenmann]."
Tuloy ni Jace, isa pang nakadagdag sa pressure ay ang fact na his last acting stint was a guest role in Ikaw Sana that last two episodes. "So parang medyo rusty pa ako."
"Pero okay naman," he tells us. "It's very, very fun."
Jace tells us na naka-bonding pa nga niya si Miss Melanie Marquez through his magic tricks!
"Nakakatuwa, kasi sa tent, while we were waiting to take our scenes, mina-magikan ko siya. Talagang natutuwa siya," he says of the veteran celebrity. Jace adds that both Miss Melanie and Miss Gina Alajar were "very, very nice" in real life.
"Si Miss Gina naman, I wanted to ask her for some tips, I wanted to ask her kung magkakaroon ba siya ng workshop—pero medyo nahiya pa ako doon," the budding actor adds. Although he says that maybe the next time he sees her, he'll be able to ask.
For Carinderia Queen, Jace is once again playing a bully—and he doesn't mind.
Kuwento niya, he watched the first episode daw with Survivor Philippines: Palau castaways Suzuki and Charles, as well as Doctor Sam, the resident doctor of the reality game show: "Okay naman 'yung feedback nila."
But he does confess that he does get comments asking kung bakit puro bad roles 'yung nakukuha niya.
"Sa akin naman, accepted ko na," Jace tells us. It's fine daw if he keeps getting bad roles. "I even like it more that you give me bad roles—mas madali kong gawin."
But, Jace clarifies, he's still very open for other roles.
To end, we ask Jace kung may message ba siya sa fans niya, and here's what he has to say:
"Thank you so much. In behalf of Survivor Season Two, gusto kong magpasalamat sa inyong lahat sa pagsuporta niyo sa show. Dahil doon naman din po ako nanggaling. Thank you so much. And thank you sa pagsuporta niyo sa Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin, 'yung last soap ko. Sana po suportahan niyo 'yung SRO, every Thursday po 'yan. At saka The Last Prince, coming na this 2010, January."
Jace even hints at another surprise project for Q Channel 11 coming soon: "Abangan niyo na lang po."
