Former actress G Tongi on leaving the local entertainment business: “I wasn't okay by just being a face." Read more:

G Tongi is no longer active in local showbiz and her recent social media post explains why.

The former actress revealed one of the many reasons why she left the Philippines in the early 2000s and immigrated to the United States.

In a post on Instagram, G revealed never-before-scene photos back when she did modeling and endorsements in the country.

“Sharing some never before posted photos that I found in my old portfolio at the height of my acting career as a teenager,” G wrote in the caption.

“Looking back, I hardly recognize this girl. She was barely a woman and her understanding of the world around her was still so limited.”

G revealed that she already felt narcissist because of the fame she has here in Manila.

“One of the many factors, why I chose to move back to America during my twenties, is that it was inevitable when one is showered with that kind of attention from a nation to not feel narcissistic,” she added.

“Fame does that to people. Really, I can attest to that.

“So I retreated, understanding I wasn't okay by just being a face.

“I've since worked to try so hard to prove that there's more to me than just the way I look.

“People who really know me, know my heart, and know my passion for what I stand for and believe in.

“I hope you can get past the glossiness of this perceived image to know the real me.

“Thanks for reading and not just 'looking.'”
