
Filipina theater actress Gab Pangilinan has joined the cast of the acclaimed production, Jesus Christ Superstar, as announced by GMG Productions, one of Asia's most renowned theatrical production companies.
The said show by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, reimagines the final week of Jesus' life through the skeptical, tormented eyes of Judas Iscariot.
From the entry into Jerusalem to the tragedy of the crucifixion, the story strips away the divine to focus on the raw human emotions, political friction, and the complicated bond between Jesus, Judas, and Mary Magdalene.
Earlier, the production released a teaser regarding who would play the character of 'Mary Magdalene' in the Philippine staging of the musical this May 2026.
The post immediately went viral on social media as theater fans flocked to guess the actress's identity.
Just days later, the production finally revealed the face behind the character, confirming that it is indeed the renowned theater actress Gab Pangilinan.
Gab's friends in the theater world were quick to show some love on the announcement post. Theater stars like Rachelle Ann Go-Spies, CJ Navato, Markki Stroem, Benedix Ramos, and Nicole Omillo all left supportive comments for the actress.

In a social media post, Gab expressed that her inclusion in the cast is a form of “payback” for the times her father made them sing the song "Gethsemane" growing up.
The actress also expressed her gratitude to the production for the opportunity to be part of the show.
“I only want to say.. this is payback for all the days my dad woke us kids up singing Gethsemane,” Gab wrote in the caption.
“Let's do this, GMG Productions. Thank you!” she added.
Gab Pangilinan will be performing alongside seasoned international stars from previous UK, North American, and Australian tours like Luke Street playing the role of Jesus, Javon King as Judas, Ethan Hardy Benson as Pilate, Grant Hodges as Caiaphas, and Kodiak Thompson as Annas.
