How are you doing in SOP?
So far, so good. Ok naman. To be honest, it’s been like 10 years for me in SOP, (and) may mga bagong dumadating and I’m still here pa rin.
What have you learned from a decade of being on the show?
I’ve learned a lot. It’s a musical variety show and it’s live. We tend to work faster and at the same time, we have to avoid making mistakes. Aside from that, probably singing the song na hindi bagay sa ‘yo since this is a variety show nga. You get to discover your different range of talent in singing. I used to dance here pero ngayon, hindi na. (I’ve also learned to be) a better host.
Why did it take you so long to come up with an album?
Actually, nagpahinga ako for four years. I was just probably finding my sound. (Then) GMA records approached me and wanted to do an album with me. I asked kung anong tunog kasi I wanted tunog banda, medyo alternative. Nagkataon they also wanted (the same thing). I was so happy kasi I was given another chance and I found a sound that I liked. It took me four years (laughs).
Tell us about your album
This is not really heavy rock. It’s mellow rock, and yet nandoon yung niche na kaunting rock, pero hindi ganoon kabigat. It has eight cuts, there’s two minus ones, for those who want to sing along. I mostly sang Tagalog songs. There are only 3 English songs, both revivals. They are “Traveling Boy” and “I Think of You.”
What are your favorite songs in the album?
My favorites are “Sa Di Kalayuan,” “Muli,” and “Mahal Mo Rin Ako.”
Do you play an instrument?
I used to play guitar in high school. Natigil lang yan nung showbiz, I started doing acting first before singing. Sayang.
How do you spend your free time?
I’m mostly at home kasi I’m usually on the internet updating myself with the new toys because I’m a toy collector. I collect Marvel Legends, Justice League, more of mga superheroes. (I like to collect) just to collect, display, and watch them lang. I don’t open (my toys), I just look at them.
Who is your favorite superhero?
The Incredible Hulk. He’s strong, he’s mean, he’s the Incredible Hulk! Actually, there are three of them: Hulk, Thor and Iron Man. Yang tatlong yan ang magkakasam lagi.
How did you get into this hobby?

I used to collect comics when I was in grade school until high school. When I graduated, my favorite comic was “The Infinity Gauntlet,” where a lot of superheroes ng Marvel, nagsama-sama. From then on, I stopped na, so I started collecting action figures na.
I used to collect basketball cards, NBA cards. Now I’m still into NBA. I just finished putting up my own fantasy league.
What’s in store for Gabby Eigenmann?
I’m just waiting for my album to be at least gold (laughs). And from then on, I’ll probably start doing more soap operas on GMA.
