Find out what the Pinoy BL series 'Gameboys' is nominated for in the International Emmy Kids Awards.

The groundbreaking Pinoy web series Gameboys, starring Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kwento' actor Kokoy de Santos and Elijah Canlas, is one of the nominees in the Live-Action category of the 2021 International Emmy Kids Awards.

Gameboys is the first Filipino series to ride the “Boys Love” trend that's now popular all over Asia. It was directed by Ivan Payawal and produced by The IdeaFirst Company.

It was originally released on YouTube on May 22, 2020 during the peak of the pandemic and was shot entirely from the actors' homes.

It quickly reached over a million views after only two episodes.

After its successful YouTube release, it was then added to the streaming platform Netflix, making it even more popular worldwide.

Gameboys revolves around two teenage live stream gamers Cairo Lazaro (Elijah Canlas) and Gavreel Alarcon (Kokoy de Santos), who meet and fall in love online in the midst of a pandemic, after interacting through gaming, social media, and video calls.

It previously won Best Web Series in the Indie Shorts Awards in Seoul.

Other nominees in the 2021 International Emmy Kids Awards' Live-Action category are Australia's First Day, Netherlands' Heirs of the Night, and Argentina's Nivis: Amigos de Otro Mundo (Nivis: Friends from Another World).

The winners of the 2021 International Emmy Kids Awards will be announced in an online presentation on October 12.
