Despite being in high spirits for the past few days, Geneva Cruz shared that her mom, Marilyn Cruz, has succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Monday, April 19.
The singer-actress shared the sad news on Instagram by posting a black and white photo of the Cruz matriarch.
“With hearts broken and full of sorrow, our family would like to let you know that our mom, Marilyn Cruz, is now in heaven,” she wrote.
“We will forever remember each of you who prayed and helped in whatever way you can. She is gone too soon, and no one can ever replace her in our hearts.”
Geneva continued, “See you on the other side, mama. #prayersformama #iloveyoumama”
Hours before her announcement, Geneva constantly updated her friends and followers about her mother's condition while in hospital confinement.
“My mom's blood oxygen is only 46 because of her severe pneumonia. She needs to be intubated,” she declared on another Instagram post.
“This was her yesterday. How can she not be okay today when she was okay yesterday?! I don't understand this!!!
“She's supposed to be getting better. We are asking for prayers. Please. #prayersformama.”
Just last week, the 45-year-old performer said that her mother is no longer under “critical care” after testing positive for COVID-19.
“Mama is not in critical care and has more energy compared to two nights ago,” she told her followers.
“Nakaka-relax na siya ng konti at nakakanood na ng TV (magandang sign 'yun sa mam namin). Thank you for all your prayers and well-wishes.”
Since learning of her mom's condition, Geneva has been tending to her mother's medical needs by setting up a fundraiser to help alleviate their matriarch's hospital bill.
