To all the coffee lovers out there, you can still make something out of your used coffee capsules!

How? Well, Biyahe Ni Drew traveled all the way to Bacolod just to give you this news.

The City of Smiles is more than just its title. Its people are artistic and eco-friendly, too.

Meet the Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) Foundation, the creative minds behind the coffee capsules project. If you want meaningful gifts with a cause to give this Christmas, this is the place to get them.

Located on Lizares St. in Bacolod City, biyaherong host Drew Arellano was able to visit their showroom, which also turned out to be the home of the NVC Founder and President, Millie Kilayko.

Their products made of recycled coffee capsules are turned into fine art - from fashion accessories like earrings, to figurines, mosaics, and Christmas ornaments.

The NVC Foundation has volunteers, not only in the Philippines but from all around the world as well, to help the foundation collect discarded coffee capsules.

“Other group of volunteers clean the capsules for us. They take off the coffee grounds and give them to the farms and orphanages where they can be used for organic vegetable gardens. The capsules are then turned over to us,” she added.

According to their website, they only accept single-serve coffee capsules made of aluminum or other metals as of the moment.

Aside from helping the environment through waste management, the NVC Foundation also funds a Mingo feeding program for undernourished Filipino children.
