"It’s a big jump, but it’s what I live for. I embrace all the pressure. I embrace the frustrations that come with it. " - Gil

He elaborated, “Acting is very new. It is a huge jump. It’s two completely different industries kasi. I modeled abroad, and as a model I’d like to think magaling akong model, that’s why I was able to work abroad. But, when it comes to acting, you know, siyempre wala akong experience. Kahit background role, kahit supporting role, wala. You know, it’s my first ever acting job, [tapos] lead role na. So, it was a big jump for me. And it was hard for me to start, to accept the fact na I’m not yet good at this. You know kasi, ganun akong tao, eh. I don’t like knowing na I’m not good at something. That’s why I choose modelling, because I knew my look hits the fashion market. When it comes to acting, I didn’t have much workshops before.”

Gil then added that he only wanted to meet Direk Joyce Bernal when he auditioned for the role.

He explained, “I wasn’t expecting to get the role to begin with. I just wanted Direk Joyce [Bernal] to know me. So that, maybe, [if] may project siya the following year, she could get me a background role, or a supporting role. I didn’t think I’d get [it]. Kaya nung nakuha ko, it was such a big jump.”

Gil then says the pressure that comes with bagging the lead role is also his biggest motivation.

He said, “This entire thing is such a big jump. And it was hard for me, until now it’s very hard for me, with the pressure and frustrations, everything. It’s a big jump, but it’s what I live for. I embrace all the pressure. I embrace the frustrations that come with it. I’m going to be bad at the start, that’s the way it is, but it’s a process, ganun ‘yun eh. With each taping, with each workshop, you know, I’m learning something. What’s important for a new actor is the progress you make.”
