While live band performances and concerts are still under a lot of restrictions, GMA's girl group XOXO reminisces on what they miss about singing live in front of an audience.
Kapuso girl group XOXO are out to manifest strong feminine energy as they release their first single, "XOXO."
The girls have certainly come a long way from their days as contenders in Kapuso singing competition The Clash Season 1 leading to their girl group debut in 2019.
While the coronavirus pandemic has slowed down promotions and activities, the members--Riel Lomadilla, Dani Ozaraga, Lyra Micolob, and Mel Caluag are still thriving in their online promotions.
In an online media conference on September 9, the girls recalled what they miss about live performances. Cebuana member Dani admitted that despite their eagerness to have livestreams more often, internet connection among other issues have gotten in the way, "One of the challenges po since bawal po lumabas, pero siyempre we have to be visible pa rin sa mga tao kahit sa social media man lang, nag-u-update po kami by uploading our covers or nag-la-livestream kami."
She added, "Struggle namin yung hindi stable 'yung internet, minsan gusto namin mag-live as XOXO pero hindi kinakaya."
"Kaniya-kaniya kami ng record dito sa bahay tapos send na lang po sa email. Napakadami po ng proseso pero laban lang. Kasi ginusto namin ito. Minsan may delay po kasi."
For Davaoeña Lyra, being onstage is one thing their group misses a lot. "Sobrang na-miss po namin, iba po talaga mag-perform kapag nasa big stage ka, with all the lights and magkakasama kami. Iba 'yung energy."
Cagayan de Oro native Riel recounts the perks of performing live, "Nakakamiss 'yung makikita mong habang live ka nag-peperform nandiyan 'yung mga manonood na pumapalakpak sa'yo. Nakakadagdag sa confidence and stage presence mo. Kahit 'yung pagka-busy ng studio."
Bulaqueña member Mel misses the challenge that comes with a live performance which doesn't allow a retake for mistakes.
She said, "Kapag nagkakamali ka, walang take two. Iba rin 'yung feeling mo after mo mag-perform ng live at natapos mo na, nakababa ka na ng stage."
