Glaiza De Castro is now happily married to her non-showbiz partner, David Rainey.

In an interview with Unang Hirit, the Kapuso actress shared that she enjoyed married life so far, especially now that she gets to spend more time with David after months of being away from each other. The pair currently stays in Glaiza's residence in Baler.

But as they say, there's always a storm before the calm.

We're not just talking about the concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic that they dealt with but also their cross-cultural relationship in itself that was bound to raise eyebrows.

In a past interview with GMANetwork.com for its cover story Kapuso Profiles, Glaiza got real about dating a foreigner in a typical Filipino household, admitting that her parents didn't approve of David, an Irish, at first.

The False Positive star recalled, "Medyo hindi sila ganun ka-excited noong una kasi may mga past relationships din kasi 'yung mga tito't tita ko with foreigners 'tapos medyo hindi naging maganda. So parang nag-worry sila sa 'kin."

As much as her parents want her to stand on her own two feet, Glaiza, now 34, consciously felt it's their way of protecting her from a potential heartbreak, considering her and David's cross-cultural differences.

Having said that, David showed that his intentions were pure, and that was the time when he won her parents over.

The blue-eyed fellow lived like a local and embraced the culture he's not familiar with when he stayed in Baler for three months straight after being stranded due to COVID-19 lockdown.

Na-enjoy niya 'yung culture kasi 'di naman din very different from us especially when it comes to hospitality.

Glaiza and David have been married since October 2021.

They tied the knot in a traditional Irish wedding in Northern Ireland.
