Glaiza De Castro and her husband David Rainey hiked together over the weekend to witness a breathtaking sunrise.
Glaiza De Castro and her husband, David Rainey, chose to spend their weekend high above the clouds.
The Sang'gre star took to Instagram to share a series of photos from their weekend hike at Masungi Georeserve.
"Sunrise done right," she began.
Glaiza shared that they began their day at 1:30 a.m., which she described as an "unusual hour to wake up on a Saturday," but she expressed that "this one was so worth it."
Before starting their trek, they aimed to reach the top of the trail at 4 a.m. to witness a breathtaking sunrise.
"We wound our way up the route guided by red torch light as not to disturb the diverse wildlife here. The steps carefully placed to wind upwards between towering limestone silhouettes," she shared.
The Kapuso actress added, "Our guide EJ was so knowledgable, every plant has a story and the birdsongs which change in meaning as sunrise approaches."
When they reached the summit, they were greeted with an "other-worldly" view. Looking down, they saw a blanket of clouds covering the landscape.
Their hike ended on a high note with what Glaiza called the "tastiest breakfast." They were treated to a spread of ube champorado, fresh fruits, turon, hot chocolate, and local tea.
After the incredible experience, Glaiza reflected on the importance of protecting nature.
She praised the work of an environmental organization and shared how it made her realize "how we need to help them fight this amazing cause" because of the beauty she witnessed at the top.
"Thank you for the experience. Highly highly recommend," she said at the end of her post.
As husband and wife, Glaiza and David love going on adventures, especially those that involve physical activity and a bit of thrill. The couple tied the knot in October 2021.
