Global Pinoys in New York State, New York City celebrated GMA Network Day on Thursday, February 27 through a parade and street dancing.
GMA Network Day was first established last year by the first-ever Filipino to win a state seat in the New York State Assembly, Fil-Am Steven Raga. He won the seat for District 30 in Queens in the 2022 midterm elections.
It can be recalled that Raga lauded GMA International and GMA First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia during the ceremonies at the New York State Assembly last year.
Witnessing the ceremonies were members of the New York State Assembly led by the Presiding Officer Jeffrion L. Aubrey and Deputy Speaker Philip Ramos and members of the Filipino-American Communities.
Raga recognized GMA International's role in advancing Filipino interests and culture within American society. He also acknowledged Franca's commitment to Global Pinoys and his “remarkable contributions” through GMA Pinoy TV.
“His visionary leadership and commitment to showcasing the richness of our culture and the talent of Filipinos worldwide deserve our utmost respect and admiration. It's a privilege to be part of this historic moment and to honor someone who has so profoundly shaped the narrative of the Filipino diaspora,” Raga said.
Meanwhile, GMA Pinoy TV, the international channel of GMA Network, is also celebrating its 20th anniversary on the same day. GMA Pinoy TV promises to continue serving Global Filipinos.
