In a recent My Husband’s Lover set visit, GMANetwork.com got to chat with award-winning actress Glydel Mercado, who plays Sandra in the series. Find out what she thinks about Lally and Vincent’s situation and what words of wisdom she would impart to the couple.

Ms. Glydel has received compliments right and left for her effective performance in the show. Since day one, netizens have been very ardent in showing their support. What could Ms. Glydel say about this?

The respected actress was very touched, to the point of tears. She replied, “Kung nafi-feel niyo lang ang nafi-feel ko ngayon, naiiyak ako. Very flattering, thank you so much.”

Out of all the episodes of the show, which one has made a mark for her?

“Siguro ‘yung pilot episode, dahil ‘yun ang maraming comments akong natatanggap. ‘Yung mga parating rin ngayon, kasi maraming revelations,” she said.

How did she react to the plot twist wherein Lally revealed that her husband, Vincent was gay?

“Ako, okay lang sanang maging gay siya, pero ‘yung fact na maghihiwalay sila dahil hindi na niya talaga mahal ‘yung anak ko, siyempre, as a mother, magagalit ako. Since ilang taon na silang mag-asawa, hindi ba dapat at first pa lang, sinabi na niya. Maiintindihan naman namin,” she stated.

As a mother like her character Sandra, what advice would she give Lally?

“Ang maaadvise ko sa anak ko, kung ayaw na sa’yo ng tao, okay, fine, makipaghiwalay ka. Ikaw lang ang may gusto na mag-ayos kayo because of the children. Hindi ako naniniwala sa ganoon. Kasi bilang character ni Sandra, naitaguyod ko ang mga anak ko nang wala ‘yung tatay nila,” she advised.

The mother of two went on to share about her soft spot for children. She shared, “Alam mo, hindi ako iyakin noong dalaga pa ako. Hindi ako masyadong mahilig sa bata, hindi ko naiintindihan kung bakit sila makulit. Tapos noong nagka anak ako, makakita lang ako ng bata na parang kawawa, naiiyak na agad ako.”

All these emotions, she gets to bring out in My Husband’s Lover, especially in her scenes with Lally and Evelyn.

“Kaya sa show, ‘pag nangyari sa mga anak ko ‘to, eh iiyak ka talaga dahil mahal na mahal mo ‘yung mga anak mo, ‘di ba? Feeling ko, talagang mom na mom ako,” stated Glydel.

If ever she would have a gay son like Elaine in the series, how would she react?

“Alam mo, ako, mahal ko ang mga bading. Babaeng bading nga ako, actually, kayo puro bading ang friends ko. Kung ako si Elaine, tanggap ko. ‘Di ba si Elaine, fashionista? Baka may ituro pa siya sa akin na bagong trend sa fashion. Tatanggapin ko siya. Mamahalin ko siya, kasi ‘yun siya eh. Anak ko siya. ‘Yan ang binigay ng Diyos sa akin,” Glydel said.
